Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (approx. 1.5 to 2 lbs total)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a large baking dish with non-stick spray or oil.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels to ensure the rub adheres properly.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish and brush both sides of each breast with olive oil.
  5. Generously coat the top of each chicken breast with the brown sugar spice mixture, pressing it down with your hands to create a thick layer.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove the dish from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute before slicing.
