Ingredients

  • 750 ml dry red wine (Tempranillo or Garnacha recommended)
  • 1/2 cup brand y
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (e.g., Triple Sec)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 medium orange , sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 medium lemon , sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 large apple , cored and diced
  • 1 cup chilled sparkling water or club soda
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Method

  1. Place the diced apple, orange slices, lemon slices, and granulated sugar into a large glass pitcher.
  2. Pour the brandy and orange liqueur over the fruit and sugar.
  3. Using a wooden spoon, muddle the fruit for 30 to 45 seconds to release essential oils and juices while dissolving the sugar.
  4. Add the dry red wine to the pitcher and stir thoroughly to combine the ingredients.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours to allow for flavor extraction and maceration.
  6. Immediately prior to service, stir in the chilled sparkling water to add carbonation.
  7. Pour into wine glasses over ice cubes, ensuring each glass receives a portion of the macerated fruit.
