Green Beans Almondine

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic , minced

Method
 

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
  3. Blanch the green beans in the boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes until tender-crisp and bright green.
  4. Immediately transfer the beans to the ice bath to stop the cooking process, then drain and pat dry.
  5. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  6. Add the sliced almonds to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  7. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  8. Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and toss to coat thoroughly with the butter and almonds.
  9. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until the beans are heated through.
  10. Season with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice before serving.
