Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 large green bell peppers, sliced into strips
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Method

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles, approximately 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and set beef aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  4. Add sliced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Toss to combine and heat through.
  7. Reduce heat to low and place the slices of provolone cheese over the mixture. Cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is completely melted.
  8. Divide the mixture into four bowls and serve immediately.
