Healthy Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 cinnamon stic k

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine fresh cranberries, maple syrup, and orange juice.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until most cranberries have burst.
  4. Stir in the orange zest and cinnamon stick.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely at room temperature; the sauce will thicken as it cools.
  6. Discard the cinnamon stick before serving.
