Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions , thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 cups cooked white rice

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and no longer pink.
  2. Drain excess fat from the skillet using a colander or spoon.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef; sauté for 60 seconds until aromatic.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Simmer the mixture for 3 minutes to allow the sugar to caramelize and the sauce to coat the beef.
  6. Incorporate half of the sliced green onions into the beef mixture.
  7. Portion the cooked rice into four bowls and top with the beef mixture.
  8. Garnish with the remaining green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
