Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 12 slider-sized pieces
  • 12 slices thick -cut bacon, cooked until crispy and halved
  • 12 slices smoked gouda cheese
  • 12 brioche slider buns, sliced horizontally
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup, divided
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Season the chicken pieces evenly with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; sear chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of the maple syrup to the skillet, tossing the chicken to coat thoroughly in the glaze, then remove from heat.
  5. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and the remaining maple syrup to create the maple butter wash.
  6. Place the bottom slab of the slider buns into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Layer each bun with a piece of glazed chicken, two half-slices of bacon, and a slice of smoked gouda.
  8. Place the bun tops over the cheese and brush the maple butter wash generously over the entire surface of the buns.
  9. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-8 minutes until the bun tops are golden brown and slightly crisp.
  11. Slice into individual sliders and serve warm.
